New Year’s Resolutions for Your Digital Marketing

By this time of the new year, most people have made some sort of resolutions for the next 12 months. Health, fitness, budgeting, reading, organization–these are just a few of the ways people determine to improve their lives and wellbeing. But what about your business’s wellbeing? What kind of resolutions have you made for your business this coming year? Do any of them include your digital marketing strategy? Here are a few things to consider for your digital marketing strategy in 2019.

1. Post consistently.

Get in the habit of posting on a consistent basis. Whether you use social media like Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter, or have a blog, podcast, or YouTube channel, put your brand in front of your audience on a consistent, predictable basis.

2. Evaluate your communication.

Evaluate your current channels of communication between you and your customers and prospects. How well developed are your current channels, such as your website, social media, and blog? Whether your current communication is consistent, quality content or sparse, sporadic content, what can you do to improve on what you currently have? Whatever you decide, make sure it is sustainable long term.

3. Refresh your website.

When was the last time you updated your website? Is your website mobile friendly? Is the design outdated? Is the content still accurate? The new year is a great time to evaluate your site and refresh it as needed. In some cases, you may find that you need a new site altogether. Pinpoint the weak spots of your website and make the necessary improvements.

4. Communicate value.

Before a customer is going to give you their money, they have to know what you can give them and why you can give it to them better than anyone else. In all of your marketing material, from your business card to your website, from your elevator pitch to your social media accounts, communicate the value of your product or service from the customer’s point of view. Is your content merely highlighting how great your business is? Or is it communicating value that will convert customers?
